Where it comes from
From Zhou China onward, people have asked this book when a choice would not settle. Not because the lines choose for you — because a looping mind needs another shape. That is why it lasted: it sits with you. It does not walk for you.
What people use it for
A job in another city, the people who stay, everything you already built. Write the sentence. Look at Jian, then ask yours.
A sample, not your reading
“I've been offered a role in another city. Do I take it, or stay where I've built things?”
The reading favors the move — as a sequence, not a leap. The changing line is the cost of arriving before the ground is ready.
Ask the question you've been turning over.
Write it the way you'd say it out loud. The hexagram is cast from that sentence.

Is this fortune-telling?
No. The hexagram does not predict what will happen. It is a structured pause on a choice you already have. The conclusion stays yours.
Does my natal chart change the hexagram?
No. A linked 紫微 chart may calibrate tone and timing. It never recasts. The hexagram of this thread owns the verdict.
Is tarot the same thing?
No. Same kind of stuck — a decision now — two methods. A hexagram is cast; tarot is shuffled. Neither enters the other.
