Reading it as a decision

Thunder breaking over water gives this hexagram its charge: the pressure that had been building underneath finally releases, and movement replaces what had been stuck. It marks a turn rather than a steady state — a difficulty that has genuinely resolved, whether that's a conflict that's settled, a blockage that's cleared, or a decision that's finally been made for you by circumstance. The guaci's advice splits cleanly: if there's nothing urgent pulling you forward, settle where you are; if there is, move on it early rather than late.

The classical line texts here sit right at the midpoint, favorable on balance, which iYarrow reads as a position worth staying in and acting from rather than one to treat cautiously. The relief that follows resolved difficulty is real, but it's also a narrow window — the common mistake is sitting on newfound clarity instead of using it, or re-litigating a conflict that's already closed. Whatever the next move is, this hexagram favors making it promptly, and letting old grievances stay settled.

The classical text

Tension finally breaks; favorable toward the southwest. With nowhere left to go, return is fortunate; with somewhere to go, going promptly is fortunate.

The six lines (爻辭)

There is no blame to be found here.

Hunting in the field catches three foxes and finds a yellow arrow — staying firm brings fortune.

Carrying a burden while riding in a carriage invites bandits to come — persisting this way brings regret.

Loosen the toe that binds you, and friends arrive in true sincerity.

The noble person achieves release and fortune, while showing sincerity even to petty people.

A duke shoots a hawk perched atop a high wall and captures it — nothing unfavorable follows.

This is a general reference, not a live reading — it doesn't know your situation. iYarrow casts a fresh hexagram for the actual question you're weighing.
