Building Reserves

Reading it as a decision

Mountain sits above heaven, holding its immense energy in check rather than letting it dissipate. The image is one of accumulation — resources, skill, capital, credibility — gathered and contained until there's enough of it to matter. The classical judgment favors correctness and explicitly favors not eating at home, putting what's been built to use in the wider world rather than hoarding it privately; it favors crossing the great water, taking on something substantial once the buildup behind it is real.

This reads as a genuinely good position to be in — the move isn't to chase something new but to keep doing what's already working: keep building the reserve, whether that's savings, a skill, a team, or trust, rather than spending it down too early or forcing the next leap. Half the classical lines read as favorable, which tracks with a hexagram about patient compounding rather than instant payoff. The decision worth making now is protecting the accumulation, not accelerating past it.

The classical text
